Another Successful Run for Water!

A Blustery Morning Made Warmer by You!

It’s been over a week since our 9th Annual Kenya Run for Water runners got up early, shimmied on down to Emily Murphy Park, warmed up with over 170 fellow runners, and took to the trails for a good cause.

Our biggest run yet, we were happy to see both return supporters and a bunch of brand new faces. We had dedicated volunteers from last year come back to join us, along with groups of high school students from M.E. Lazerte and Old Scona Academic. New members from the local Kenyan community, students from the University of Alberta, and plenty of people in between showed us their incredible spirit and generosity. The return of the ‘water droplet capture’ (gathering blue wooden clothespins tied with blue ribbon scattered gently throughout the trails) saw people jumping for the trees; this year, we even had a few creative people join forces to win and share in the final prize!

A special thank you to some new sponsors this year: Corona Station Physical Therapy for braving the cold and setting up a complimentary massage station at the finish line and the Powered by Chocolate Milk Recovery Crew for providing a tasty and handy goody bag at the end of the race. Our long-term partners at Blitz Conditioning has again been incredible in their support as they hosted three spin/SPIIT class fundraisers in their beautiful downtown facility leading up to our event.

Thanks to your pledges, donations, and registrations, we raised over $12 000 to support the growth of ICChange’s local and international efforts in improving the quality of life for vulnerable populations.
